"Passing To The Future"

Knute Rockne was born on March 4, 1888 in Voss, Norway. His family later moved to Chicago. After High School he became a mail dispatcher with the Chicago Post Office to save money for his education, at the age of 22 he enrolled at Notre Dame. After playing football and serving as the captain of the team and getting an average of 91% in all of subjects, he was offered a job as a graduate assistant in chemistry. He would only take the job if he could help coach the football team. After many years past, the coach of Notre dame retired. Rockne was then offered the position of head coach and he accepted it. As he coached, he had a winning percentage of 88% and won 105 games out of . He was known as one of the most innovative and charismatic coaches of his era.

 

 

The forward pass was recognized as football's first aerial attack because it made football more exciting and suspenseful to watch and play. It changed football because it changed the ways coaches had to strategize and prepare there team for the football games. The forward pass that was the most common was the spiral pass.  There were many forward pass that were developed with many different football teams, for example the position pass, the choice pass, the delayed pass, the split buck pass, the mechanical pass, and the scoring pass. The forward pass also made quarterbacks more useful in the game.
