Were would professional football be today without the innovation of the forward pass? Most team’s offenses are based on a strong passing game. Without the forward pass it would be deadly for running backs because they would be the ones carrying the team and taking the hits mostly every play. The forward pass rules have changed over the decades. The game of football is more exciting and suspenseful to watch and play because of this. In 2009 an NFL record was established when 11 different quarterbacks threw for over 4,000 yards. This illustrates just how important the passing game has become in the modern era.
